Robo loves lists.
Robo loves to tick things off lists.
Robo likes to experience new things whenever she can.
Therefore I have decided to endulge myself (and you too of course!). I have found a list of 100 things to do before you die on someones website – and decided to add it to my own.
1. Attend at least one major sporting event: the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the U.S. Open.
I’m planning to go to the Olympics in 2012 here in London. I also want to go Wimbledon. And probably something else I haven’t though of yet!
2. Throw a huge party and invite every one of your friends.
Isn’t this what a wedding is for? So therefore – no not yet!
3. Swim with a dolphin.
Nup – not yet
4. Skydive.
DONE!
5. Have your portrait painted.
Well I had a caricature of me done in Hawaii when I was 10. I still have it – so I think that counts. DONE!
6. Learn to speak a foreign language and make sure you use it.
I did Japanese for 4 years at school and could barely say “hello” if pressed. But while I am near Europe I plan to try my hand at French.
7. Go skinny-dipping at midnight in the South of France.
Done the skinny dipping part – but midnight at the South of France is very specific – we will see I go with this one!
8. Watch the launch of the space shuttle.
Does this have to be in person? Doesn’t really matter though – haven’t watched a launch anyway!
9. Spend a whole day eating junk food without feeling guilty.
Exclusively junk food? Definitely eaten junk food all day with no guilt – but usually there is something slightly nutritious like cereal in there
10. Be an extra in a film.
Nup – not even close.
11. Tell someone the story of your life, sparing no details.
Would anyone care? Maybe some day I will….
12. Make love on a forest floor.
No – the forests in NZ don’t have very smooth floors!
13. Make love on a train.
This person seems very into sex in outdoor places! But no – have you seen the state of toilets in UK trains?!?!
14. Learn to rollerblade.
I can go forward – the stopping part is something I am not so good at. But I would say this is a ticking off item! DONE!
15. Own a room with a view.
What kind of view? The place we own in Wellington has a view of Mt Kaukau. I say – DONE!
16. Brew your own beer.
Um – no thanks – don’t like professionally brewed beer much, so I can’t imagine I will jump for joy with anything I put my hand to.
17. Learn how to take a compliment.
I am pretty good at this! DONE!
18. Buy a round-the-world air ticket and a rucksack, and run away.
Now that is the dream – except it is a round the world FIRST CLASS ticket!
19. Grow a beard and leave it for at least a month.
Ok – I think I must have taken this list from a guy’s website! Because I will NEVER (well at least I hope not!) be able to do this.
20. Give your mother a dozen red roses and tell her you love her.
I tell my mum I love her a lot – but the red roses have been lacking. But i suspect she would rather that I gave her any flowers I had grown myself.
21. Be a member of the audience in a TV show.
We’re trying! We have signed up to be in the audience on Top Gear (but there is a 3 year waiting list!) and also trying to get onto Mock the Week as well.
22. Put your name down to be a passenger on the first tourist shuttle to the moon.
If I had £200,000 I probably would. But this may just have to wait until the prices come down a bit…
23. Send a message in a bottle.
But I’m practical – Why?!? But ok, maybe one day I will.
24. Ride a camel into the desert.
Technically it was pre-Sahara not the Sahara – but there was sand, and a camel and it was a desert – so marking this one as DONE!
25. Get to know your neighbors.
I know some of their names! I talk to them and say hello to them. But I don’t feel I really “know” them in the community sense of the word. This may have to wait till we get back to NZ to live.
26. Plant a tree.
I have planted many trees. Asking if they lasted, well that is another question – but DONE!
27. Learn not to say yes when you really mean no.
But I thought it was a skill to say no when you mean it! But yes, I have said yes when I have thought “no way”! DONE!
28. Write a fan letter to your all-time favorite hero or heroine.
Once again my practical side kicks in – why would I? But actually more importantly – I don’t have a hero or heroine. But maybe this is trying to teach me to let go of my practical side. This one will have to wait another day.
29. Visit the Senate and the House of Representatives to see how Congress really works.
I think this person I stole this from is American! I have been to the Parliament in NZ and I plan to attend here in the UK. Hell, if i can learn how the US system works i think I deserve a medal!
30. Learn to ballroom dance properly.
Not just ballroom dance – any proper dancing would be good!
31. Eat jellied eels from a stall in London.
Where would I find this said stall?!?!?
32. Be the boss.
I have been a co-boss when I reported directly to the Board of Alzheimers. But one of the things I really want to do is run my own business, so this is still on the cards.
33. Fall deeply in love — helplessly and unconditionally.
I am not sure about helpless – but I love my Stocky with all my heart. This is a DONE!

Do I really have one inside me? Perhaps I can just support those friends who I know have one inside of them?!?
37. Go to Walden Pond and read Thoreau while drifting in a canoe.
OK – this is something unknown to me – definite no on this one!
38. Stay out all night dancing and go to work the next day without having gone home (just once).
But I like my sleep ….
39. Drink beer at Oktoberfest in Munich.
I have drunk beer in Munich, but not for the festival. But that may be something to tick off in the coming years.
40. Be someone’s mentor.
That is something I would really like – that is a definite important goal in my life.
41. Shower in a waterfall.
No – but sounds lovely!
42. Ask for a raise.
Done and received – DONE!

44. Teach someone illiterate to read.
Now that sounds like a neat idea.
45. Be one of the first to take a flight on the new Airbus A380.
Well it’s a bit late for that now isn’t it! But i would like to fly in one – and plan to on our next trip back down under.
46. Spend a night in a haunted house — by yourself.
Practical Peel says – why?!?
47. Write down your personal mission statement, follow it, and revise it from time to time.
I like this! Will have to look into doing this.

They have been around but I haven’t actively seen one. Still to do i guess.
49. Spend New Year’s in an exotic location.
I think Marrakech, Morocco counts, so ticking this off as DONE!

What else could I call the three years working for Alzheimers? DONE!
51. Experience weightlessness.
Now that would be neat.
52. Sing a great song in front of an audience.
The song may be great but I am afraid my singing will not be!
53. Ask someone you’ve only just met to go on a date.
No – haven’t done that – and doubt I will now….
54. Drive across America from coast to coast.
Just one of the many trips I would love to do one day.
55. Make a complete and utter fool of yourself.
DONE! Many a time!
56. Own one very expensive but absolutely wonderful business suit.
I’ve only ever owned one suit, and while I thought it was expensive – it wasn’t really!
57. Write your will.
I keep meaning to do this….
58. Sleep under the stars.
DONE! And isn’t it beautiful!
59. Take a ride on the highest roller coaster in the country.

That’s the plan for 2010!

An important skill i learned in my first flat. DONE!
65. Drive the Autobahn.
Yep, done that! DONE!
66. Find a job you love.
Feel I have been close, but not quite there. Still on the lookout for this.
67. Spend Christmas on the beach drinking pina coladas.
Done the beach part (which is why I love Xmas in NZ!) but not with the pina coladas. That is still to come.
68. Overcome your fear of failure.
Now that is a lifetime achievement I am a way from achieving!
69. Raft through the Grand Canyon.
I may have done this as a child, but seeing as I can’t remember, I am not sure I can tick this off!
70. Donate money and put your name on something: a college scholarship, a bench in the park.
Something for later in life…
71. Buy your own house and then spend time making it into exactly what you want.
I part own two houses, but both are investments and not somewhere I plan to spend a huge amount of time. So my dream home is still on the cards.
72. Grow a garden.
As for the plant the tree, done the growing, but also done a fair bit of killing. Hopefully my thumbs will become more green with age. DONE!
73. Spend three months getting your body into optimum shape.
I have trained for three months for a number of different events, but I am not sure my shape was ever optimum!
74. Drive a convertible with the top down and music blaring.
Seems a bit OTT – but maybe one day!
75. Accept yourself for who you are.
I am pretty good at this, but still something to always work on.
76. Learn to use a microphone and give a speech in public.
Surely it can’t be that hard to learn to use a microphone?!? Given speeches for work events, but never in front of large numbers of people.
77. Scuba dive off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
This guy was really specific with his list wasn’t he?!? Done the scuba diving – location however, wasn’t the Great Barrier Reef!
78. Go up in a hot-air balloon.
Sounds like fun!

How huge is huge? Attended quite a few rock concerts in my time, but until I go to one at Wembley Stadium this one may have to remain unticked!
80. Kiss someone you’ve just met on a blind date.
As with the one about asking someone out – it may be a bit late for ticking this one off now!
81. Be able to handle: your tax forms, Jehovah’s Witnesses, your banker, telephone solicitors.
Yeah – no problems! DONE!
82. Give to a charity — anonymously.
Every time you put money in a bucket on the street you are giving anonymously to charity. But I think they may need something more with this. So will keep this as a to do action!
83. Lose more money than you can afford at roulette in Vegas.
Now this is very unlikely to happen. Being the daughter of a Scottish, Jewish, accountant is a real benefit, but means this will never happen!
84. Let someone feed you peeled, seedless grapes.
I think I have had one peeled and fed to me. Does that count?
85. Kiss the Blarney stone and develop the gift of gab.
Stocky has done this, but I missed out. Maybe we shall return one day – although I am not sure I need to kiss it to get the gift of the gab. Have that one .

I have been to Auschwitz and Auschwitz-Birkenau and I promise you, I won’t forget. DONE!
92. Run to the top of the Statue of Liberty.
I’ve seen it – does that count for something? Not sure I will return – and not sure that is actually possible to run up it – what with terrorist threats I am not sure they let you inside anymore.
93. Create your Family Tree.
I’m trying! But it is turning out to be quite a hard ask.
94. Catch a ball in the stands of a major league baseball stadium.
Been to one major league baseball match as a child, and I imagine I will have to go to more than one match to tick this one off!
95. Make a hole-in-one.
DONE! Did this on a mini golf course. For once, this isn’t a hugely restrictive task, but I think I have to do this on a full size course – it will be virtually impossible!
96. Ski a double-black diamond run.
Just getting confident on skis is my task of the moment. We will see how I go with the green runs before putting up anything else!
97. Learn to bartend.
Personally I have no desire to learn to bartend, so I think this may remain unticked. But can I live with an unticked item?!?/

Once again, run 10km will be the first step. Then hopefully will get to a half marathon. A full marathon may be a little out of my reach – but we shall see.
99. Look into your child’s eyes, see yourself, and smile.
First steps first, I need to have a child!
100. Reflect on your greatest weakness, and realize how it is your greatest strength
